Rotary Club of Sudbury TalbotPC and Internet Security |

I read an article (see below), some time ago about an Internet Security expert, Mike Lee, who had created a web-site about computer and Internet security (email, worms, virus, etc), and had specifically designed it for ease of use and understanding. Mike had originally funded the site himself. When I spoke to Mike he told me; "I designed a site that my own mother could easily use". I would recommend this site to all Rotarians who would like to increase their knowledge on PC and Internet security and urge you to pass on details of the site to friends and colleagues. The site can be found at http://www.homepc-security.com |

Global Services security specialist Mike Lee has set up a website to help
home PC users and small businesses with advice on PC security.
Mike explained: I was presenting on behalf of BT at a seminar and an attendee pointed out that most security breaches happen on home PCs and that these are now the start of the attacks on corporate sites. He wanted to know where he could find good advice on home and small network IT security that is easy to understand and non-technical. I investigated the sites available and found there was nothing to fit the bill. There are many millions of users out there who do not protect their PCs and who need to find out where to get help on Windows updates, Spyware, virus alerts, how to use a firewall and more. So I got together with a partner who is a security manager at a large insurance company and in our spare time we constructed homepc-security.com. It deals with basic security issues, how to get more help, what to use and even how to deal with legal issues like the Data Protection Act. It really is all about giving something back to the IT community. We have tried to make the site simple to use, its free and we hope it will grow with use. |
